·         Part to 3D file comparison

3D Scanning and the Technological Benefit

3D Scanning allows engineers to survey any plastic work to measure variance from the design, and then modify the tooling to ensure that each piece comes out with as small a variance as possible. MPC’s scanning hardware is capable of measuring with an accuracy of 4μm (0.0004mm), and on pieces of work sized up to 200x140x140mm.

ATOS Q: Design, Technology, Performance

ATOS Q is specifically developed for industry use and delivers fully traceable measurement results—even under harsh conditions. ATOS Q captures quality information quickly and with a high degree of detail, providing a reliable basis to easily interpret this information. Its Triple Scan Principle offers advantages for measuring reflective surfaces and objects with indentations. The Blue Light Equalizer increases the brightness of the light source and transfers uniform, speckle-free light to the projection unit.
Thanks to the Blue Light Equalizer and fast data processing, ATOS Q impresses with an outstanding performance. The Blue Light Equalizer enables high-speed fringe projection and is so powerful that even on uncooperative surfaces short measuring times can be achieved. Industrial ports with fiber optic cables and robust plug-in connections allow for high data throughput.

ATOS Capsule: Quality Control with Highest Resolution

Triple Scan Technology: Together with both cameras, the projection unit operates according to the Triple Scan Principle. During the measurement, precise fringe patterns are projected onto the surface of the object and are recorded by two cameras, based on the stereo camera principle. This automatic principle offers advantages in measuring reflective surfaces or objects with complex indentations.

Blue Light Technology The projection unit of the ATOS Capsule system is based on Blue Light Technology. Since the sensor works with narrow-band blue light, interfering ambient light can be filtered during image acquisition. Due to its powerful light source, short measuring times can be achieved.
Self-Monitoring System: The sensor recognizes changing ambient conditions during operation and is able to compensate these changes. To do so, the software of the sensor is continuously monitoring the calibration status, the transformation accuracy, environmental changes and part movements to ensure the quality of the measuring data.

The Next Steps

3D scanning is an effective tool to fine-tune your production process. Once you have a working part our ATOS Q and Capsule scanners will be able to show a direct comparison between the part and the drawing.

Based on the results of the 3D scan and the analysis, we can make adjustments to the tooling as necessary to produce the part exactly how it should be.
