JOB PURPOSE
MPC is currently seeking a full-time EDM Operator. This position offers the opportunity to learn from some of the best machinists in the plastics industry and to be given the opportunity to utilize some of the best equipment available. MPC is known worldwide as a precision plastic parts supplier for the automotive industry; we manufacture the most challenging parts with the highest quality standards and complex configurations requiring very tight tolerances. As an EDM Operator, your primary responsibility will be setting up, programming, and operating two AgieCharmilles sink EDMs or one AgieCharmilles wire EDM.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write / edit programs using Esprit
  • Interpret engineering drawings as well as a variety of geometric and trigonometric principles to calculate dimensions and tolerances
  • Monitor the operation of the EDM machine to ensure accuracy, and correct or report any concerns
  • Occasionally perform some manual machining for electrodes
  • Maintain EDM machinery and calibration
  • Document processes for recurring parts
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, and participate in regular daily/weekly cleaning duties for the Tool Room

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum one year of relevant experience in programming, setting up, and operating sink or wire EDMs
  • Machinist, Tool & Die, or Mould Making certificate an asset
  • Advanced mathematical and mechanical aptitude
  • Handle up to 30lbs of weight
  • Must possess good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to adapt in an ever-changing technology-driven environment
  • Accountable and able to take ownership and responsibility for your work
  • Ability to proactively identify potential problems before they become an issue
